The 2025 Understanding China Conference (Guangzhou), the ninth of its kind, convenes in Guangzhou from November 30 to December 2, under the theme of "New Plan, New Development, New Choices——Chinese Modernization and New Vision for Global Governance". Focusing on China's 15th Five-Year Plan and its global significance, the Conference will explore topics such as innovative pathways to Chinese modernization, the new opportunities they will bring for advancing global modernization, and joint actions to implement the Global Governance Initiative.
China's Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) will launch island-wide independent customs operation beginning December 18. Chi Fulin, President of the China Institute for Reform and Development, pointed out in an interview with SFC that Hainan boasts unique conditions for developing health and elderly care industries. With the introduction of the Interim Provisions on Overseas Higher Education Institutions Running Schools in the Hainan Free Trade Port, Mr. Chi believes expanding the reach of these policies could significantly elevate the overall level of education in Hainan. According to him, Hainan's tax-reduction policies represent a major direction that can help its development toward internationalization, offering substantial benefits and strong appeal for enterprises to invest and establish operations there.
