2025 GBA Science Forum to Be Held in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao on Dec 6-8

On November 26, at the press conference for the 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Science Forum, it was officially announced that the forum will be held simultaneously in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao from December 6 to 8. With the theme "Intelligent Innovation for the Bay Area, Integrating Industry and Research", this year's forum will include an opening ceremony, a main forum, parallel forums, and special events.

The opening ceremony and main forum will take place on the morning of December 7 at the Guangzhou Nansha International Convention and Exhibition Center. The opening ceremony will be attended by political, business, and academic representatives from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, along with renowned scholars from home and abroad. The main forum will feature keynote speeches by Turing Award winners, distinguished academicians from China and overseas, and leaders of leading enterprises.

Meanwhile, multiple parallel forums and special events will be held in Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Yangjiang, Huizhou, and other cities. These events will focus on in-depth discussions on key, cutting-edge, and disruptive technologies driving the development of emerging industries and future industries, aiming to provide suggestions for the Greater Bay Area to accelerate the in-depth integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation and build a globally influential industrial technology innovation center.

To date, over 50 prominent scientists have confirmed their attendance, including 39 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and 16 academicians from overseas academic institutions.

Guo Yile, Deputy Secretary-General of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, stated that this year's forum will present three major features:

First, emphasizing the leadership of forward-looking technological innovation and promoting exploration into cutting-edge topics and "bottleneck" areas.

Second, highlighting the construction of a modern industrial system. For instance, the forum will host parallel forums on energy system construction, carbon neutrality, and marine science and technology.

Third, stressing high-level opening-up and cooperation. It will continue to host the "Chinese Academy of Sciences - Guangdong Province Technology Achievement Matching Conference" and explore organizing events such as the "Global Technology Manager Conference" and etc.

Responding to a question from Southern Finance at the press conference, Ren Hai, President of the Guangzhou Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), stated that at last year’s Greater Bay Area Science Forum, CAS joined hands with enterprises and institutions in Guangdong to efficiently implement 12 signed projects with a total investment of 670 million yuan.

For this year, he introduced that the "CAS-Guangdong Technology Achievement Matching Conference" will focus on Guangdong’s industrial needs and CAS’s technical capabilities, inviting 33 CAS-affiliated research institutes to participate with 123 key projects across different fields.
