In less than 300 days, the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games will take place in Guangzhou on November 9, 2025, marking the first time Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao will jointly host this prestigious event. Zhu Xiaoyi, Deputy Director General of the Executive Committee of the Guangzhou Competition Area for the 15th National Games and Deputy Secretary General of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, shared in an interview that Guangzhou is poised to deliver an exciting and spectacular event for audiences both nationwide and globally.

He emphasized that this edition of the National Games will highlight the deep integration of culture and sports within the Greater Bay Area. Zhu Xiaoyi also expressed his hope that young people in Guangzhou and across the region will take pride in and feel a sense of belonging to this historic occasion.

Zhu Xiaoyi：In less than 300 days, the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games will be held in Guangzhou, Guangdong. What makes the 2025 edition particularly special is that it will be jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Last night, everyone watched the Guangzhou round of the 43rd Hong Kong–Guangdong Cup, which took place at one of the venues for the 15th National Games the newly renovated Yuexiu Mountain Stadium. The first round of the match saw the Hong Kong team and the Guangdong team drawing 1–1. I noticed that at Yuexiu Mountain Stadium, before the game both the Hong Kong and Guangdong team members were holding up our mascot, cheering for the 15th National Games. We are confident that the 15th National Games and the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD), and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) will be spectacular.

On January 13th, as the 15th National Games enters the 300-day countdown, the first batch of official licensed merchandise is unveiled.

Zhu Xiaoyi：Today, we are at the site of the Guangdong Provincial Two Sessions, where the Guangzhou Competition Organizing Committee and Guangzhou Cultural Group have launched the first official merchandise store for the mascots of the 15th National Games and the 12th NGD, the 9th NSOG. Right now, I’m holding our adorably cute mascots, "Xi Yangyang" and "Le Rongrong." Over the past few days, I’ve seen many media outlets comment that our mascots are so cute, they’ve practically blossomed.

Guangzhou has had several close encounters with the National Games. We can trace it back to the 6th National Games in 1987, which was the first time the event came to the Pearl River after the reform and opening up. Another notable edition was the 9th National Games in 2001, also held in Guangdong. Both were particularly memorable. In 2010, Guangzhou also hosted the Asian Games.

This year, the 15th National Games and the 12th NGD, the 9th NSOG are once again being held in Guangzhou, Guangdong, and are coming to the Greater Bay Area. The biggest highlight is the joint hosting by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. It’s a grand event for the Greater Bay Area and the entire sports community nationwide.

Especially in November, it is the most beautiful season of the year for Guangzhou, Guangdong, and the Greater Bay Area. We aim to make the people of Guangzhou, Guangdong, the Greater Bay Area, and the whole country proud. I especially hope that this edition of the National Games will be loved by more young people.
